On May 16th, during the visit of Sébastien COUASNET, CEO of ÉLEPHANT VERT Group, the Malian subsidiary organized a conference to launch the 2017-2018 winter campaign with the theme “Soil fertility in Mali: challenges and solutions for an innovative, efficient and climate-intelligent agriculture”. The event took place at the Bamako National Park.
During the conference, the participants discovered an overview of the situation of Malian soils and the existing innovative solutions, in particular those proposed by ÉLÉPHANT VERT. The first part of the conference was introduced by a soil scientist who focused on the different types of soils in Mali, their characteristics as well as the causes and the consequences of the decline in their fertility. Then, a technical adviser of the PACAM (Professional Association of the Chambers of Agriculture of Mali) highlighted the risks linked to soil degradation, both for agriculture and for the Malian economy, emphasizing the need for sustainable and efficient solutions to revive the soil and increase agricultural yields.
This meeting was also an opportunity to present the vision of the Group and its strategic orientations to the various partners. Around 100 partners were present, including ministerial representatives, national administrations, PACAM, CMDT (cotton company), banks and microfinance institutions, agrodealers’ associations and producers as well.
The management team of the Group and the Malian subsidiary recalled the mission of ÉLÉPHANT VERT to propose sustainable and innovative solutions for the development of a “greener” agriculture in Mali.
