To lower the cost of financial resources, ÉLÉPHANT VERT participates in the creation of a specialized financial institution bank based in Dakar: la financière de l’Afrique de l’ouest (FINAO). The FINAO is a business entity of the Confederation of West African Financial Institutions (CIF).
ÉLÉPHANT VERT is not directly a microfinance operator : the FINAO is the operator. The FINAO should allow the pooling liquidity management and provide this liquidity through optimized refinancing and investment mechanisms. Our partnership with the CIF allows us to address 6 Micro-Finance Institutions (MFIs) in 5 countries : Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Togo and Benin.
This represents more than 3 million members, depositors and borrowers, 500€ million savings and € 350 million outstanding microloans.
ÉLÉPHANT VERT invests in innovative SMEs that will become its future partners. This investment allows recipient companies to finance product registration and cover some commercial development costs.
We target SMEs seeking to launch bio-inputs produced using living microorganisms or extracts on the European and international markets. We have an innovative investment approach: we respect the company's independence, align the interests of the company and ÉLÉPHANT VERT, and maximize synergies. In addition to our financial investment, we provide long-term support to partners by recommending strategies for the registration, development and marketing of funded products.
